Funeral Celebrant

Funeral Services with Sabra Dettore, Professional Celebrant

Every Goodbye Deserves to Be Personal
Saying goodbye to someone you love is one of the hardest things we face in life. It’s a moment filled with emotions, memories, and the need to honor their story in a way that feels true to who they were. That’s where I come in, not just as a guide, but as someone who listens, understands, and helps you create a farewell that feels meaningful and authentic.

As a Funeral Celebrant, my goal is simple: to craft a ceremony that reflects the life, values, and unique essence of your loved one. Whether it’s a graveside farewell, a celebration of life in a special location, or a more traditional service, I’ll work with you every step of the way to make it personal, heartfelt, and just right for your family.

Listening to Their Story, Together
Every life is a collection of stories, big and small, joyful and bittersweet. When we meet, I’ll take the time to hear about your loved one’s passions, quirks, and the moments that made them unforgettable. Together, we’ll create a ceremony filled with those stories, along with music, readings, or rituals that truly honor their memory.

You don’t have to do this alone. I’m here to make the process as smooth and supportive as possible. Let’s create a space where family and friends can grieve, remember, and celebrate a life well-lived.

How We’ll Work Together

  • Listening to Your Story: I’ll meet with you and your family, either in person, via Zoom, or over the phone, to learn about your loved one. Together, we’ll gather memories, stories, and moments that reflect their essence.

  • Creating the Ceremony: I’ll write a ceremony that incorporates any readings, songs, or rituals you choose. If you’re unsure where to start, I’m happy to suggest options that may feel right for your family. Before the service, you’ll receive the ceremony draft to ensure it reflects your wishes and feels just right.

  • Collaboration with Funeral Directors: If you’re working with a funeral home, I’ll coordinate directly with their team to ensure a seamless and respectful experience. My goal is to take care of the details so you can focus on what truly matters.

Ceremony Options to Honor Your Loved One

This is a time to gather in shared grief, celebrate a life well-lived, and offer one another connection and support.

Short Graveside Goodbye
For families seeking a simple yet meaningful way to say farewell, this intimate graveside service includes thoughtfully chosen words and personal reflections on your loved one’s life. It offers the same heartfelt care as a full ceremony, but in a shorter format. This is still a personalized funeral that allows the family to be surrounded by community, to share in their grief, and to remember their loved one.

This time at their final resting place allows for connection, remembrance, and the comfort of saying goodbye.

This is for a 10 to 15 minute service at cemeteries within 20 miles of zip code 48462. Travel beyond that distance may require an additional fee. Music is not included.

Great Lakes National Cemetery Service
For those honoring a loved one who served in the military and incorporating military honors, or was the devoted spouse of a veteran, I offer ceremonies at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. These services are brief but deeply meaningful, offering a personalized farewell that reflects both the individual and their connection to service.
Price: $200

This price includes a 10 to 15 minute service at GLNC.

Beyond Tradition

Today, many families are looking for ceremonies that feel personal and unique rather than following traditional formats. You might not feel connected to a specific religion or cultural practice, and that’s okay. Together, we can create something deeply meaningful, whether it’s blending spiritual elements, weaving in personal rituals, or crafting a ceremony unlike anything you’ve experienced before.

My focus is always on celebrating your loved one’s individuality and providing a space for connection, healing, and remembrance.

Why Choose a Celebrant-Led Ceremony?

Unlike traditional clergy-led services, a celebrant-led ceremony is entirely focused on the person being honored. There’s no one-size-fits-all template, this is about telling their story, their way. With a celebrant, you have the flexibility to include laughter, tears, and all the moments that make your loved one unforgettable.

“I have to tell you the service was the most beautiful and heartfelt I have ever heard at any funeral (and I’m a funeral goer). You are absolutely amazing and I cannot express how grateful I am for your attention to detail and delivery. We received so much positive feedback from family and friends and I wanted you to know that. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Mom has already said she wants you to speak at hers which is sad in one breath but says how much she appreciated you. Thank you so very very much.” - Sue
